I love movies, and am often lead by curiosity and recommendations in many different directions.

I've debated keeping a database of all I watch, like I do books...but I fear that might suck some of the pleasure out of it.

I wonder if people would be interested in getting a monthly report on what I've watched?

Example:

January

Phantom of the Opera - craptacular, slow, and inconceivably romantic. I'm glad I slept through the middle.

Chronicles of Narnia - quite good. Particularly liked costumes and beavers holding hands.

Brokeback Mountain - Awwwww. So much longing! So much hot sex while camping. Can you have love that intense without the tragedy?

Roll Bounce - nostalgic movie about disco and rollerskating. Cute, but don't pay money to watch it.

Lords of Dogtown - not bad. Particularly entertaining to see Heath Ledger as fucked up board maker, not cowboy.

Moon Over Parador - I have a real soft spot for this film. And Raul Julia. I'm still sad he died.

Murderball - Great documentary! Fuck surviving, its all about thriving.

Valley of the Dolls - Oddly enough I hadn't seen this film before, but I had seen a theatrical rendition of it.

Dirty Shame - Lewd, funny, and outrageous. Outside Waters usual shock value stuff, this feels important right now. I'm so pleased I got the library to buy this.

The Aristocrats - I sincerely love this movie. As an overthinker who loves jokes, it is great to see how comics react to, break down and interpret one joke. Filthy and fantastic.

I would be interested, but if it would take the joy out of it for you, then I would say don't do it.

Maybe I'll have to see Brokeback Mountain.

I want to see The Aristocrats, but if I waited for it to come up on my GreenCine queue, it would be a few years. Hah!

I think keeping a real database is more of what I am worried about. It would give me a different sort of joy...kind of an anal retentive obsessive compulsive high, but it would also be the sort of thing I would feel I _must_ do, and I'm trying to cut back on those.

But if you are interested in hearing about movies, they I will do at least a minimal posting. Or I will just post after I watch them. Dunno.

Yeah...waiting for stuff from the library is just as bad, I'm sure ;)

Just post what you watched when you feel like it/remember it. That's what I try to do. I don't want you to fall over the OCD cliff!

I would be interested in your opinions. Plus I love Moon Over Parador! I need to re-watch that one again.

Aw thanks! This is why I think if I ever get into the habit of writing, it will probably be poetry. One of my big joys this week is that I have the new Billy Collins in the bathroom. I know lots of people think his stuff is watery and trite, but I like the presence of it and the accessibility.
