I found this photo while randomly searching for something else. I find it chilling because it is so beautiful, but from a time when people were in most desperate straights there. Makes New Orleans look like Venice. I'm mesmerized.

What have I been up to?

Highlights of the month so far:

Went and visited gryph with lara7.
Checked out holyoutlaw and juliebata's new place.
Had brunch with jillbertini and went on a lovely walk.
Went to see Gil Mantera's Party Dream with lara7, and discovered an alternative hip-hop band which I can actually enjoy: Grand Buffet. If you haven't experienced GMPD, it is a must-do...especially you capn_jil...they will scare you in good ways.
Had my mom visit for the weekend. Went to Hot House, ate food, shopped at Ross, watched movies...all mellow and good.
Talked on the phone with technogreek a whole lot. Very much looking forward to him moving up THIS WEEK!

Watched movies:

Cache. Mind twisted, brilliant, but somewhat dissatisfying ending.
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill. Sweet look at odd San Francisco, but not life changing.
In Her Shoes. Girly girly girly.
King Kong. Fell asleep a bazillion times watching this. Poor poor monkey.
Lost Boys of Sudan. Good stuff...brings insight to refugee issues.
Carousel . Fell asleep watching with Mom. Twice. Unlikable characters, decent songs.

Went to the gym a couple times this week. Desperately need to get back with the program...Halloween did bad things to my belly fat.

Went to McLendon Hardware today. Finally bought the Weed Hound I've had my eye on...I'm tired of crawling around to pull weeds. Got a insulation blanket for my hot water heater, so that will hopefully be good for environment/bills. Got some new gloves for driving and some for projects. Got a new sheet of window liner for picture window missing storm window (brrrr!). Time for some projects to get done!
