Last night we went out to see the Mekons.  It was their 30th Anniversary tour, and Jon Langford was also turning 50 at midnight.  It was a total sit-down show (for both the audience and the band), with a few nice exceptions...the best being a particularly vigorous bout of dancing (and a somersault!) by Langford, that I missed with my camera.  I think I have seen the Mekons seven times now.  As much as I enjoy their music, I also love their performance...the cutting banter, musically unified group dynamic, and especially the sheer love and energy they put into the songs.

Afterwards, I was convinced to go to the Stumbling Monk for "one" beer.  I ended up having two barley wines and four pieces of organic chocolate, which got me home around 12:30...and I had to get up at 5:30 for my carpool.  Ug.

Exhausted by these shenanigans, after work today I planned to take a quick nap, swim, and watch a DVD.  But when my alarm went off after an hour and a half at 7pm, I lay in the dark for a few minutes contemplating swimming, and fell back asleep for two more hours.  I always feel a bit thrown by a nap that long in the evening.  I seriously thought I had slept all night when I finally did get up.  I do love naps, but they just don't work in my current schedule quite right.
