What albums do you listen to when you want to be in a better mood?

I listen to any of the Space Ghost albums, Joy Electric's Robot Rock album, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Anything Box, hmm... the Pogues, some of their songs, Luscious Jackson's Electric Honey, a mix CD I made of Splendora, and about ten million happy techno mix CDs

Boards of Canada-Music Has The Right To Children
Brian Eno-Ambient 1: Music For Airports
Belle and Sebastian-anything by them, really.

Hmm, for myself sometimes it's that listening to sad and dark music helps make the dark clouds disperse (I guess for the empathy), whereas I usually listen to happy music to reinforce my happy mood. Anyhow, from both categories:

To purge being down:
Joy Division - Les Baines Douches 18 December 1979
Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks
Therapy? - Sucide Pact-You First

Happy/Bouncy:
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Rheostatics - Music Inspired by the Group of Seven
Frank Black - Teenager of the Year

Old U2. I really like to rock the fuck out to their old raw stuff.
Anything ska. How can you be not happy when you listen to ska?
Pixies.
Beastie Boys.
Bjork.
Who's Next - The Who.

I second Bjork! Though I'd probably avoid Vespertine, for happy-making purposes at any rate.

I don't tend to listen to a lot of happy music, so I can't think of any other suggestions. Sorry!

I was listening to this when I posted the question...discovered through your recommendation. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the recommendations...I'll be tracking the unfamiliar stuff down, and digging the other stuff out. I was in a funk this weekend and realized most of the stuff I have been listening to lately wasn't exactly cheery...and there is only so many times one can listen to Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens ;)

If you email me an address (babyjesus at reed dot edu) I will send you Splendora and Joy Electric, as they are a bit tough to find.

Beck -- Midnite Vultures or Odelay. And lots of Queen.
