Ok, so while we didn't get 2 inches of accumulated snow, as threatened (which in Seattle is a big deal, believe me), I am none the less pleased that while my Dad was here this weekend we put up storm windows, insulated water pipes in the basement, put plastic over a window missing its storm window, and filled in gaps around some doors. And I ate duck feet, which isn't helping with the cold, but was good too.
I just wish my gutters were done! I may have to give up on my hippie contractor friend and call around for some estimates. The sound of leaking gutters (DRIP. DRIP. DRIP. DRIP. ...) woke up up this morning. It needs to be deal with!
I also need to get some mulch. If there is any hope of my artichoke surviving this cold spell (if it is not too late already) I need to act fast. I scurried out into the freezing rain last night in pink fuzzy robe and slippers to save the last two artichokes (ok, last two that were big enough to eat...I left two tiny ones out there).
Other accomplishment for the weekend: got the lawn done! Just in the nick of time. Ok, actually Dad mowed. But I did overcome a totally irrational fear based completely in lack of experience, and walked to the gas station and filled up the gas can. I know that sounds really stupid, but the first time can be really difficult for me on weird things like that. Go figure.
