I got up nice and early today to go to the gym, but a peek outside and a look at the weather channel has me discouraged. It is currently 20 degrees, and my car is covered in ice. But I called, and the gym is open, so I should motivate. Then again, maybe it would be safer to stay home and do a yoga video...

As usual, after having lived in Chicago, I am amused by how freaked out Seattle is by the weather. Though admittedly, it is the surrounding areas that have had really damaging weather, and we have gotten off relatively easy. Though I am worried about my garden hose (which I forgot to take off and bring inside), and my outside faucets (which I almost bought insulators for last month, and then didn't...DOH). Cold weather has never given me trouble with these things before, but maybe I've just been lucky? The one problem I consistently have, when it is this cold, is that my drivers door latch on my car, and the lock, both stick. So IF I get the door open, it doesn't close again until the car warms up. I've finally just started getting in through the passenger side when it is that bad.

Yesterday my work closed at 4pm. I had been annoyed because I had worked 12-8 to attend a meeting which got canceled, but then I ended up getting a short work day, so it wasn't so bad after all. I'm watching the library website to see what the plan is for today.

It would be nice to just stay nestled up all day and get caught up on some reading...

Thank you for the reminder to unhook the hose! Cold here today, too, and I opted for the in-home Pilates.

We are one of those colder areas, infact it's still a winter wonderland outside my window, and ice on the streets is an average of 1 inch thick.

My driver's door is still stuck with ice, but I managed to get the two back doors opened. What my biggest concern right now is lack of anti-freeze. I know there's only water in there right now, and I'm terribly nervous about getting to work tomorrow.

Having lived in Chicago, do you have any advice for making a car drivable in such conditions? I was brainstorming in bed this morning (because I do that) and came up with a silver tarp over my car when snow is expected. Now that I'm up, I don't know how great an idea that is, but without a garage or carport, I'm kind of at a loss.

> Baby, its COLD outside!

In two weeks I get to go home to the Thunder Bay for a cold-weather and ice-driving smugness recharge.

When I come back from that deep freeze, I won't even need pants anymore.
