behind on LJ, up on life
Oct. 8th, 2006 11:27 amI'm so behind on LJ, I don't know if I'll ever get caught up. Instead I've been reading. Lots of reading. For committees, side projects, magazine reviews, author dinners, author visits, and occasionally pure pleasure. And overall, really enjoying it.
The house is in generally good repair, or at least clean. Garden's gone to weed...there is a 20 inch zucchini out there that I plan to gift to a Russian co-worker who complains about not being able to find the big ones in stores. Lawns gone to weed, too, and I'm failing to care right now. Still haven't called the exterminator, but haven't had bees in the living quarters. Through not going out and being generally thrifty, I've saved enough cash up to pay my property tax...though my savings will be pretty much wiped out again. Need to re-finance soon...debating getting the house appraised to see if I can get a single loan that will cover everything (including school loans)...or probably a new equity is the better way to go. Either way, I need to get enough money together to get the bathroom looked at...there is a slow leak behind the shower wall which needs to be dealt with.
Things with my fella are going swimmingly, aside from a day-long break-up, that we both regretted immediately. Looking forward to him moving up here next month. Can't wait to date and hang out regular like :)
Been watching Deadwood with my pal L. We are into the second season right now, and loving it.
I've been asked to do another speaking gig...probably going to take it, just need to figure out the correct amount to charge. Need to decide on two other ones, also.
Band has been practicing semi-regularly-ish. Still don't can't agree on a name.
Been sleeping like a baby on what I now refer to as Pillowtop Mountain. My brother is storing his ridiculously decedent bed on mine, and it is so lux-urious! I've also been swimming regularly, but slacking on the gym. Damn the lure of the comfy bed! I can hear it calling me now...
