Today Seattle is getting its first taste of summer weather.  I was way overdressed by the time we rolled out of work.  Everyone seems to have dodged out early to enjoy the sun, so the traffic was rather wretched.  On the plus side, I could listen to music with the windows rolled down, something that gives me great joy.  Lollygagging the backstreets home from the U-district rather than facing downtown traffic, I stopped at Ezell's and got dinner.  The roll didn't make it a block, and I naughtily ate both coleslaw and mashed potatoes while driving (mostly at red lights).  Modeling exquisite self-restraint, I waited until I got home to eat the chicken...after changing into shorts and a tank top, so I could enjoy it proper sitting on my front steps, sipping a hard lemonade.  I thought my recent trip to the tropics made me immune to the charms of weather in the 70s, but I was lying to myself.  I love summer.  Outside now are the sounds of summer in my neighborhood:  the ice cream mini-van; lots and lots of sirens (third set since I got home), and peacocks shrieking a block away.  Oh summer, I've missed you.
