Anyone have a favorite mascara? Mine is in dire need of replacement, and I don't want to admit how long it has been since I got a new one. I like black. I tend to favor cheap, but can be pursuaded otherwise for lasting quality.

I normally use Almay Hypoallergenic in Black, but what I really want to buy, and will with my first chunk of disposable income, is Lorac (http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P4187&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=S10510), probably in Aubergine and Black (aubergine highlights lighter coloured eyes in the most remarkable fashion).

One of my personal goals for the next year is to stop using cheap makeup because it's cheap, and invest in more expensive makeup that gives better results. Less quantity, more quality (a lesson I want to extend over my entire life).

Oooo...aubergine sounds good...should bring out my green eyes quite nicely!

Mascara

Of all the things to get me to finally respond to your Livejournal, it turns out to be this: I love the Mascara I bought for my wedding. It has turned me into a regular mascara wearer--no small feat. And, it was pricey, but I have been wearing it about 5 times a week since Sept 13, and it shows no sign of running out. I expect it will last 6 months--about how long they tell you to keep mascara, anyway.

This mascara does not flake, and it does not run. I have been amazed. It removes easily, although instead of washing off it slips off in little tube-like strands, and I have occasioannly gotten little tiny wads of it in my eyes, but they come right out. It reminds me a bit of the window paints I had as a kid that dried to a colorform like consistancy, so you can save them and use them again.
I bought mine at Endo-Exo Apothecary in Chicago, but I bet your can find it easily enough in your area. I found a website describing it here:
http://www.nittygritty.co.uk/kissmemascara.asp

You might be able to order from Endo-Exo, too--but they don't have an online shop. I think it cost $25.

have fun, love,
Heather

The tubes don't hurt when they get in your eyes? I'm intrigued.
