I woke up a little after 5 this morning.  After having a lot of trouble staying awake and getting up this winter, I am now totally convinced that I am SADly solar powered.

I bought a little cactus a while back.  It grew some nubs.  Today I was very surprised to find a GIANT flower had emerged from one:

I have got it into my head that I need a tea cozy.  Does anyone have a spare they do not use?  If not, at least now I have a new thing to look for at estate sales.  Lately I've been less interested in doing any shopping.  I just don't feel like I need anything.  Which fits in well with my new need for budgeting.

I am thinking about going camping this weekend.  Maybe just down to Dash Point State Park.  Anyone interested in an overnighter?

Yesterday I turned in my notice at work.  I'm all paranoid that I did not understand the benefits lady correctly, but I think I've got it all worked out that I have no gap in coverage and I get to take two weeks off between jobs.

Now I must get the grindstone rolling.  I need to write two reviews before work!

I know I'm hungry because I thought that was a picture of a muffin.

That reminds me of the time my brother mistook my grandmother's cactus for a fuzzy little cuddly bunny and gave it a big hug.

I highly recommend a muff-style tea cozy, similar to the ones pictured here (http://www.english-teapots.com/england/tea_cozy.htm). I got mine at a tea house. It stays attached to the teapot and keeps the tea super-warm.

Those knitted ones don't look like they would do any good at all!

They all seem so pastorial...except for the Underground and flag themes. I guess if I want a funky one, I'll have to make it myself, eh?

Tea cozies, you say?

One of my sewing projects (soon as the sewing room is set up) is the making of tea cozies. The shop I worked at on San Juan Island sold them, and I was always dismayed by how same they all were. Lovely, yes, but so very very floral. Mine will be different. Strange. (I've made two so far. One quite plain and plaid as a test, and the second... a Cthulhu cozy. With tentacles. And wings.)

Not that this helps you this very instant, but check back in a month or so if you're so inclined. :-)

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued.

I second the SAD diagnosis. Now I wake up at 5:30 - DOING! It sucks. I can go back to sleep, but we are entering the manic phase of the year :(.

How SAD

I know this does not help right now, but I have had great luck with a rope light around the window attached to a time clock that is set to go off five minutes before the alarm. Make sure you spring for a fancy-ass time clock that you can have it not go off on the weekends.

Good to know. I do have a special lamp, but it is SO bright as to be nearly painful to turn on first thing in the morning.
