Radio: An Illustrated Guide
Jessica Abel and Ira Glass
Adult Graphic Novel
How-to guides. Radio. Editing. Interviewing. Story.
Great, simple guide to getting started in radio. Highly recommended.

All-American Girl
Meg Cabot
Teen Book on Tape
Romance. Popularity. Bravery. Presidents. Assassination attempts. Sisters. Art. Politics. Washington D.C.
Aside from an unbelievable romance (built up over a few meetings and NO telephone calls???), this was a fun tape to listen to in the car. Just don't expect great depth.

Dumped
Andi Watson
Adult Graphic Novel
Parties. Dating. Betrayal.
I forgot I had already read this, but I enjoy A.W.'s style enough that it wasn't a burden or anything. Solid.

Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim
David Sedaris
Adult Short Stories
Family. Dogs. Parrots. France. Neurosis. Humor. Homosexuality. Obsessive compulsive disorder.
Splendid! I do adore his writing. Always a treat.

The Fairy Godmother
Mercedes Lackey
Adult Fiction
Fairy tales. Magic. Traditions. Romance. Adventure.
Just plain fun! Plays extensively with fairy tale traditions. Celebrates clever women (and men). And just enough sex to keep it out of some school libraries.

Iron Wok Jan 1
Shinji Saijyo
Teen Graphic Novel
Manga. Cooking. Chefs. Restaurants. Competition. Japan. Chinese cuisine. Food!
Fun to read for foodies like me…too bad it is out of print!

Vegan Virgin Valentine
Carolyn Mackler
Teen Fiction
Good girls. Valedictorians. Teens. Family. Change. Theater. Nieces.
Nice, but I liked her other book better.

Alias #04: The Secret Origins of Jessica Jones
Brian Michael Bendis
Adult Graphic Novel
Private investigators. Dark secrets. Marvel world.
I really like this series…had to read this book in one sitting. Alas, it looks like a last book.

Comanche Moon, a picture narrative about Cynthia Ann Parker: her twenty-five year captivity among the Comanche Indians and her son, Quanah Parker, the last chief of the Comanches
Jack Jackson
Adult Graphic Novel
Native Americans. Treaties. Betrayal. Old West. Family. Identity.
Nice historical graphic novel, not a quick read, but good. The dialog was a bit more humorous than I would except, considering the tone of the book was generally pretty grim.

The Fatal Bullet: The Assassination of President Garfield (Treasury of Victorian Murder)
Rick Geary
Adult Graphic Novel
Presidencies. American history. Assassinations. Politics. Murder.
This is another series I am working my way through. The author does a great job of bringing history to life, while at the same time covering dark territory of the human soul.

Citizen 13360
Miné Okubo
Adult Graphic Novel
Japanese internment. American history. Civil rights.
Not exactly a graphic novel, but one woman's experience of the camps. Very well done. Unfortunately, out of print.

Joel Sternfeld: American Prospects
Joel Sternfeld
Adult Non-Fiction
Photography. American landscapes.
Great collection of large feeling photographs. Some very funny. All interesting to observe.

Nobuyoshi Araki: Shijyo : Tokyo--Marketplace of Emotions
Nobuyoshi Araki
Adult Non-Fiction
Photography. Flowers. Tokyo. Distortion. Art.
Interesting to look at, but left me wanting more.

The Walking Dead Volume 1: Days Gone Bye
Robert Kirkman
Adult Graphic Novel
Zombies. Survival. Atlanta. Family. Friendship. Cops.
Not bad, but not particularly special.

Sandwalk Adventures an Adventure in Evolution
Jay Hosler
Tween Graphic Novel
Evolution. Meaning of Life. Darwin.
Once again, the author takes a decidedly unique approach to scientific thinking. Might be good for pre-teens.

The Birthday Riots
Nabiel Kanan
Adult Graphic Novel
Protest. Homeless. Politicians. Family. Parents. Expectations. Fidelity. Tree houses.
Not bad, but didn't really wow me.

A Dance of Sisters
Tracey Porter
Teen Fiction
Sisters. Dead mothers. Ballet. Witchcraft. School. Body image.
Ok characters, but predictable.

Stravaganza: City of Masks
Mary Hoffman
Teen Book on Tape
Time travel. Dimension hopping. Suspense. Mystery. Family. Cancer.
Yawn.

Boys Over Flowers: Volume One
Yoko Kamio
Teen Graphic Novel
Manga. Bullies. School. Defiance. Gossip. Romance?
Explores the cruelty of teens.

Fruits Basket
Natsuki Takaya
Teen Graphic Novel
Manga. Chinese horoscope. Boy-girl relations. Orphans. Transformations.
Odd, and a bit hard to follow, but creative.

Megatokyo Volume 1
Fred Gallagher
Adult Graphic Novel
Manga. Computer geeks. Japan. Unemployment. Video games. Web based comics.
Ok, but not something I would necessarily follow up on.

The Filth
Grant Morrison
Adult Graphic Novel
Secret societies. Alternative realities. Secret agents. Monsters. Crime.
Disturbing, disgusting, foul and fascinating.

Birth of a Nation: A Comic Novel
Aaron McGruder
Adult Graphic Novel
Failed movie scripts. Rebellion. African-Americans. Civil rights. Stolen elections.
Somehow lacking.

Powers #6: The Sellouts
Brian Michael Bendis
Adult Graphic Novel
Superheros. Team-ups. Prostitutes. Murder. Detectives. Disasters.
I LOVE this series. Just when I thought it was going to run out of directions to go in…looks like there may be another six after all!

New Yorkers: As Seen by Magnum Photographers
edited by Max Kozloff
Adult Non-Fiction
Photography. New York City. People.
Nice collection.

The Photographs of Ron Galella
Ron Galella
Adult Non-Fiction
Photography. Paparatzi. Celebrities. Jackie O.
Fascinating collection of photography under pressure and on the go.

What Happened to Lani Garver
Carol Plum Ucci
Teen Fiction
Teen bullying. Island life. Philadelphia. Gay bashing. Hate crimes. Mysteries. Music.
Great book, though may be a little dense for some teen readers.

Search of the Moon King's Daughter
Linda Holeman
Teen Fiction
Industrial revolution. Poverty. Family. Chimney sweeps. Servitude. Perseverance.
Though it does bring the time to life fairly well, I found the story both depressing and predictable. The ending was way too engineered.

Bill Brandt: Photographs 1928-1983
Bill Brandt
Adult Non-Fiction
Photography. Portraits. Staged photos. Black and white.
Excellent collection. I was unfamiliar with this British photographer, but am now enamored.

The Same Stuff as Stars
Katherine Paterson
Tween Book on Tape
Families. Alcoholics. Absent fathers. Great-grandmothers. Librarians. Astronomy.
Nice story about kids finding hope.

Stranger Passing
Joel Sternfeld
Adult Non-Fiction
Photography. Portraits. Americans.
Great photos.

Adult Graphic Novel
Gambling. Souls. Gods.
Ok, but not terribly compelling.

Warchild
Karin Lowachee

Good read. Would recommend to folks who like Ender's Game.

In the Shadow of No Towers
Art Spiegelman
Adult Graphic Novel
Terrorism. History. Fear. Paranoia. Art.
Best read as expressive art, rather than story. Very personal.

Behind You
Jacqueline Woodson
Teen Fiction
Sequel to If You Come Softly. Death. Grieving. Afterlife. Friendship. Love.
Nice sequel. I think I might have enjoyed it more if had read it right after the other though.

Hey! It's Kinnie from BBB. :)
Making a list of the books you've read is a good idea! I think I'll start doing that... since I go through so many a month (I'm a receptionist which means lots of reading time) that I always forget what I've read. :(
Anyway, nice to see you on here.

Yo!

I've been writing down what I read since junior high. It is one of my few OCD habits I'm proud of ;)

Sometimes I wish I had a job where I could do a lot of reading. Everybody thinks that is what being a librarian is all about, but it is sadly untrue!

Nice to see you too :)
