Very cool.  I don't know if I would be so daring.  But I suppose with the right company, many things are possible.

[livejournal.com profile] rana__x is a photographer who does some urban exploring.

This is something like dumpster diving that I'm often slightly tempted by, but know I'll never get around to. Hah! Oh well.

We should dare each other to do a dumpster diving photo shoot tour some night!

I'm sure you could do it. You've done more daring things...

I used to do stuff like that back in high school and college and on for a few more years. It kinda freaks Paul out, so I stopped. Didn't do much in DC or Seattle - need to know the city before I can start finding the stuff that's hidden.

I miss it. Very fun. I'll have to think of taking photos if I ever do it again. Probably can't, though - I have someone else to think about now so I can't risk getting arrested. Once I realized my own mortality and the issues with having an adult conviction on record, I became more timid, anyway.

I don't think there is anything wrong taking others into account. Or avoiding getting arrested. There are reasons this stuff is limited after all.

But maybe we could do some different sort of urban exploring. Even if it just means picking out a neighborhood and checking it out.

If you do go exploring...

Be prepared to get out very, very fast. You'll probably, inadverently, bump into people who don't want to be found by anyone in such places.

The article's mention of an explorer finding a body reminds me a situation with our rural equivalent: the environmental protestor/tree-sitter. They hide, climb, and cover a lot of ground in remote forest. Because of this, they also tend to find dead bodies in the woods. Our local sheriff has given them amnesty from trespassing charges in exchange for such information.

Yikes! This is what I worry about when I snorkel in lakes, too.
